Emergency Shelter

Preventing people that are going through difficult times from living on the street. Perhaps some rest and encouragement can change everything.

The Emergency Shelter is a temporary night shelter located at 320 W. Oakland Ave. It is open every night from 6:00 pm to 7:00 am. Guests must arrive no later than 8:00 pm unless accompanied by the Sumter Police Dept. The guests receive an evening meal at approximately 7:00 pm and showers and laundry machines are available. We have beds for men and women on a first come first serve basis.

The Emergency Shelter Mission Statement:

The Emergency Shelter is a temporary shelter seeking to minimize the physical and spiritual impact of brokenness and homelessness by providing rest and nourishment. The Shelter partners with local Sumter County churches to initiate and facilitate healing and restoration, enabling residents to glorify God by leading productive and independent lives.

The Emergency Shelter Theology Statement:

Everyone can have a new life by grace through faith in Christ, setting us free from sinful habits, addictions, and anxiety from life’s difficulties, empowering us to live victoriously in His righteousness.
